Monday Memo: Slippery Slopes

Terry Walton

2/7/2022

Slippery Slopes I was thinking... Sister Joan Chittister has opened my eyes at many levels with regards to faith journey. She writes on the subject of humility words that struck a chord. Perhaps they will strike a chord with you as well: “…humility is the ability to submit ourselves to the wisdom of another. We are not the last word, the final answer, the clearest insight into anything. We have one word among many to contribute to the mosaic of life, one ...

Zack Martin shared about the Crossroads UMC summer music camp. Zack described how campers produce a full-fledged musical from popular culture. Last summer’s camp performed the Broadway musical Honk! The sanctuary was filled, and after the performances on Saturday evening ...

Users "pin" website links to virtual bulletin boards to keep up with recipes, decorating ideas, books, favorite fonts, and anything save-worthy the internet has to offer. It's an excellent tool for saving and sharing ministry resources, worship tools, spiritual inspiration, and church insights. That's why the North Georgia Conference recently joined Pinterest. Sybil Davidson

7/15/2013

Patch.com and other community news sites are an awesome way to let your neighbors know about all the great things going on at your church. I asked Kristi Reed, Patch's community editor for Gwinnett and Northeast Georgia, about how churches can share news and events through their local Patch site.   Patch provides three main (free) services that churches should consider taking advantage of:   1. 7/8/2013

It was really good to have you at Harvest this week. I hope you enjoyed the service. I don't know if you're looking for answers, a church home, or just passing through. Whatever the case, I'm glad you chose to check us out.   We think church should be a fun practical place to get the answers we need for life and help us grow in a relationship with God. "Everyone said that Halloween trick or treating was huge in the Grant Park neighborhood. So we had the idea that we could open the church fellowship hall up as a Halloween Hospitality station. We recruited eight adults who did not have children, and asked them to be Halloween Hosts. We all dressed up in costume (the pastor was a Starbucks barista) and we did some minor decorating, simple orange and black streamers and three pumpkins. A new member here, a graphic artist, designed and made street ...

Ideas Generated in Worship Planning Workshop

10/8/2012

newsroom.kelloggcompany.com/index.php  Special K launched an ad campaign in January of 2011 where people were asked to get on a scale in Times Square in order to be weighed? Would you be willing to be weighed like that?
