Direct of Chidlren's Ministry

DOUGLASVILLE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Director of Children's Ministries Reports to: Minister of Spiritual Formation Effective: 6/01/13 Status: Part-time with intent to become a Full-time position Job Summary The Direction of Children's Ministries will provide leadership and oversight to the children's ministries at Douglasville FUMC; expressing a love for children and nurturing them in their spiritual development. Essential Functions: • Work with and communicate regularly with Sr. Pastor, Associate Pastors, Church Staff, and Children's Council. • Communicate regularly with all children's teachers and workers. • Coordinate promotion of children's ministry programs and facility use with church calendar. • Lead in the recruitment of all teachers and workers for the children's Sunday school classes and special activities for children. • Order all Sunday school and education literature on a regular basis for the children's department. Order all supplies, resources and equipment as needed for all groups. • Provide an ongoing evaluation of the children's programs so they will continue to improve and be the very best they can be. • Encourage and help create a Christ centered enthusiasm in children and their families. • Develop worship, educational and recreational activities for the Children's Department. • Provide the latest on-going training and resources for children's teachers, workers and volunteers, including, but not limited to, Safe Sanctuary Policies. • Attend professional training workshops and continuing education classes as time permits. • Visit sick children in the hospital when possible. • Take one weekday off each week. • Present budget recommendations for a viable children's ministry to Finance Committee and monitor expenditures to assure compliance with church policy. • Participate in necessary church meetings, staff meetings, staff gatherings and staff retreats. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Minister of Spiritual Formation and/or in conjunction with the Sr. Pastor. • The Director Children's Ministries shall abide by policies and procedures as printed in the Douglasville First United Methodist Employee Handbook. Minimum Qualifications: • Individual should be of good moral character with an understanding of the Christian faith. This individual should have a love for children and a desire to nurture them in their spiritual development. • Bachelor's Degree in the area of early childhood education; or experience to match. • Demonstrate experience in leadership, planning, and organization. Director of Children's Ministry

• To develop and guide the vision for Children’s Ministry. • To enlist, train, and coordinate members of Children’s leadership team. Work with and through that team to plan and coordinate all ministries with children. • To coordinate Children’s Sunday school program. Enlist, train, and coordinate volunteers; recommend appropriate curriculum materials, oversee ordering of and editing of all curriculums. • To coordinate Wednesday Night Programs for Children’s Ministry. • To provide oversight for staff and volunteers who provide child care for Sunday morning worship, Sunday school and Wednesday night programs, for any church ministry requesting nursery care.

Everlasting Friendship

Authors, speakers and lifelong friends, Kathie Van Landingham and Gail Mosby are available as speakers for women’s special events. After publishing their book, “Thanks for the Lift Bosom Buddy” they have shared their story in various settings and welcome the opportunity to share with your group the amazing way God has woven their lives into an everlasting friendship. They share with their audience their escapades, hoping to touch each person with their stories – letting it touch them with their hilarity, their heart and their spirit.

Youth Director

Responsibilities include: • Advance planning of weekly youth gatherings held on Sunday evenings. • Leading weekly youth gatherings. • Recruiting adult volunteers to assist with youth ministries. • Supervising and leading special youth events and trips throughout the year. • Meeting with parents of youth on a regular basis for informational purposes. Student Minister

Student Minister, Old Camp United Methodist Church is interviewing for a full time Student Minister. We are an evangelical church with an average attendance of 200 each week worshipping in two services - one blended and one contemporary. Part-time Youth Minister

Pianist Wanted

Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Buford, GA is looking for someone to play piano on Sunday mornings and a few special services during the year. Requirements for the job would be to attend choir practice on the first and third Wednesdays to practice with the choir from 6:30-8:00 pm and play Sunday mornings during the 11:00 am worship service. Director of Youth Ministries

First United Methodist Church, Fort Walton Beach Florida is looking for a full time Director of Youth Ministries who is able to equip, prepare, support, and encourage students (6th through 12th grades) to live out their faith in Jesus Christ. The Director will be a committed Christian seeking continued growth and depth in their personal relationship with Christ. Responsibilities include the ability to plan, grow, coordinate and manage a dynamic mission driven youth ministry within the parameters of the United Methodist Church. Candidates must be familiar with United Methodist theology and doctrine. The Director must be a team player that can work well in cooperation with the Programs Director, Senior Pastor, other pastoral staff and adult volunteers. An undergraduate degree and/or theological training are desired. At least three years’ experience in youth leadership is a plus.
