Setting Goals... & Keeping After Them!

I attended the Worship Design conference last Saturday at Impact UMC with Jason Moore sharing ways we could create powerful, transformative services. In addition to the solid content, and the wonderful opportunity to visit with the clergy and laity leaders from so many churches, I also enjoyed being at Impact again.

I'd forgotten that Impact posts their church goals at both exit doors visible as you leave the sanctuary. I was struck again that setting solid challenge goals, which are shared by everyone as the group task, and which are revisited often, really forms a solid church culture. A goal-setting approach can be scaled to any context and church size. This also lends itself to evaluating "how are we doing" and "what do we need to adjust or improve?" If we don't intentionally, formally set goals UP we are likely reinforcing stability or decline.

Set some audacious, yet achievable shared congregational goals, and see what a difference it makes in your church!
