SEJ Black Methodists for Church Renewal

The Black Methodists for Church Renewal met in Atlanta October 19-21 for its 49th year. The meeting was attended by clergy and lay members representing African American United Methodists across the Southeastern Jurisdiction.

The highlight of the event was the Episcopal Town Hall on issue of racism. Bishops Sue Haupert Johnson from North Georgia, David Graves from Alabama West Florida and Leonard Fairley from Kentucky took part in a challenging and meaningful conversation about race and the witness of the church.

North Georgia's own Rev. Byron Thomas serves the jurisdiction coordinator.
