BELONG: Bishops Emerging Leaders of North Georgia

The goal of the Bishop's Emerging Leaders of North Georgia (BELONG) is to connect and equip laity for leadership, both in the work we are already called to and that which we can’t yet predict. As United Methodists, we know our denomination is living with tension and facing an unknown horizon. How do we prepare ourselves to show up, pay attention, and cooperate with God? How do we meet this moment with compassion, competence, and insight about where we have already been?

BELONG focuses on building an effective toolkit for leadership based in spiritual practice and centered on knowledge of church history, theology, and polity; connection with other lay people; engagement in justice and restorative practices; and spiritual formation and leadership development.

The next cohort will launch in fall 2022. We anticipate two one-day sessions September 17 and November 12, and an overnight session at Camp Glisson Feb 25-26, 2023. The cost per participant is likely to be less than $200, with scholarship assistance available and options for local accommodations at an additional cost.
