Rev. Jasmine Smothers Serving in Leadership at General Conference

Rev. Jasmine Smothers, clergy delegate from the North Georgia Conference, has been elected chair of the Committee on Presiding Officers.

This key administrative committee of the General Conference is composed of 12 members, one from each central conference and jurisdiction.

The committee is responsible for selecting and notifying the presiding offers of each plenary session throughout General Conference. They determine the number of bishops to select and may change the presiding officer during the session, whenever it seems advisable. All active bishops are eligible to preside over the General Conference session.

Rev. Smothers will be a familiar face by the end of this session. She will offer a report to the General Conference each morning.
