Ready to Serve: Meet the 5 Regional Developers

4/14/2024

Building on the legacy of excellence in church development, the North Georgia Conference will soon be deploying developers into our communities!

Five district-based "Regional Developers" will come alongside congregations to help revitalize churches, rebuild, cast vision, re-purpose facilities, replant churches, and more. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with local churches, District Superintendents, District Strategic Growth Teams, and the Executive Assistant to the Bishop.

Meet the five regional developers who will begin these roles July 1, 2024.

Rev. Minho Chung
Regional Developer, North East District

Minho's journey into pastoral ministry began with a profound calling during his college years. This time of deep reflection and spiritual growth led him to serve in pastoral ministry for more than 26 years.

Throughout my journey, I've had the privilege of ministering in various communities around the country, from Kentucky to Los Angeles, California to here in North Georgia. Each experience has enriched my understanding of pastoral care, preaching, and community outreach, and has shaped me into the leader I am today.

Minho is currently serving as senior pastor of Chamblee First UMC.

My passion lies in creating inclusive spaces where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together in worship and fellowship. Whether it's in Asian, multi-ethnic, or next-generation ministries, I believe in the power of unity and collaboration to foster Discipleship, spiritual growth, and transformation.

Outside of ministry, my greatest joy comes from my role as a husband to my wife, Janet, and a father to our three children, Noah, Jonah, and Abigail. We as a family share a passion for food, outdoor adventures, and sports.

Rev. Keya J. Hillman
Regional Developer, South West District

A native of Philadelphia, Pastor Keya, as she is affectionately called, obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

After a 10-year career in biotechnology, where she worked to find cures for hemophilia, cancer, and HIV, Keya transitioned to working to end homelessness in the non-profit and government sectors. Following a call to ministry, she attended Gammon Theological Seminary, where she is a 2016 Summa Cum Laude graduate, earning an M. Div. with a concentration in New Testament. In June 2018, Pastor Keya was commissioned and appointed pastor-in-charge of Leland Qwest UMC in Mableton, GA. In September 2020, she was appointed to St. Paul UMC, Summit Street in Gainesville. In 2021, Keya was ordained an Elder in Full Connection.

Her work beyond church ministry includes serving as the Nominations Chair of the North Georgia Black Methodists for Church Renewal, secretary of the Interdenominational Black Ministers Association of Gainesville/Hall County, and on the Board of the Newtown Florist Club. She also serves as a member of the United Way of Hall County One Hall United Against Poverty Financial Stability Committee, the North Georgia Conference Council on Finance and Administration, the North Georgia Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and a Supervising Pastor for the Teaching Parish Program at the Candler School of Theology.  She has also consulted for start-up and mature non-profits, advising them on organization launch, grant management, program management, and fundraising matters.

Keya is most proud to be the mother of two wonderful young adults.

Rev. Dr. Heather Jallad
Regional Developer, South Central District

Heather has served small, medium, and large churches across the North Georgia Conference as both a Lead Pastor and an Associate Pastor.

She pioneered the Fresh Expressions movement in the North Georgia Conference, planted several dinner church communities, and currently serves an innovative dual role as the Fresh Expressions Specialist for the North Georgia Conference and as the Community Engagement Pastor at Cannon UMC in Snellville.

She holds a BA in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida, an MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a DMin. in Church Renewal and Fresh Expressions from United Theological Seminary.

She and her husband Marten have been married for 30 years and have two daughters.

Rev. Ash McEuen
Regional Developer, North West District

Ash was born in Arizona, lived in Oregon, but grew up in southeast Montana eating tacos, enchiladas, and tamales nearly every day.

In 1994, he, his wife Audra, and soon-to-be-born first child moved to Georgia to teach German to elementary school students. Immersed for the first time in southern culture, they joined a United Methodist church and learned to love collard greens and grits. He taught school for a number of years before attending Candler School of Theology and becoming a pastor in the North Georgia Annual Conference. In 2007, he and his family moved to Latin America (Costa Rica and Perú) where they continued to love new people, traditions, cultures, foods, and community, opening the first public lending library in the region and Ash leading Colegio Andino (a Methodist Church of Peru school) as director.

Returning to the United States eight years later, Ash’s missionary heart for the community guided his passion as a local church pastor “to live in a creative and dynamic way so the lives of others will be better."  This is expressed in his love of learning, teaching, and helping others to be the people they were created to be, especially young immigrants finding a new life in the United States. He invests himself in individuals, families, and communities as mentor, coach, friend, and pastor.

Ash is also a nationally certified personal trainer, behavior change specialist, performance enhancement coach, and life coach. He loves languages, cultures, diversity, and interacting with others. He and Audra have four children and seven grandchildren. He is currently pastor of Trinity UMC (El Centro Cultural de la Trinidad) in Dalton, and is the chair of the Conference Hispanic-Latino Ministries Committee.

Rev. Dr. Alissa Rothschild
Regional Developer, South East District

Alissa is a provisional elder with a unique journey that blends business acumen and a deep passion for spiritual and personal development. A native of Southern California, she has a strong foundation in Business Administration, earning her B.S. from Pepperdine University. Her early career in the corporate world spanned five years, during which she developed a keen understanding of organizational dynamics and strategic management.

Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives, she pursued further education at the University of Pennsylvania, obtaining an MS in Developmental Psychology. This academic venture marked a pivotal shift towards her ultimate calling to ministry. Despite not growing up in the church, she was baptized in 2004 and began working in the church in 2010.

Alissa earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Nazarene Theological Seminary, where she specialized in the intersection of spiritual development and worship. Her unique background and understanding of business, psychology, and theology equip her with a holistic approach to ministry.

She most recently served as pastor-in-charge of Midway UMC in Auburn, Ga.
