Building on the legacy of excellence in church development, the North Georgia Conference will soon be deploying developers into our communities!
Five district-based "Regional Developers" will come alongside congregations to help revitalize churches, rebuild, cast vision, re-purpose facilities, replant churches, and more. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with local churches, District Superintendents, District Strategic Growth Teams, and the Executive Assistant to the Bishop.
Meet the five regional developers who will begin these roles July 1, 2024.
Rev. Minho Chung
Regional Developer, North East District
Minho's journey into pastoral ministry began with a profound calling during his college years. This time of deep reflection and spiritual growth led him to serve in pastoral ministry for more than 26 years.
Throughout my journey, I've had the privilege of ministering in various communities around the country, from Kentucky to Los Angeles, California to here in North Georgia. Each experience has enriched my understanding of pastoral care, preaching, and community outreach, and has shaped me into the leader I am today.
Minho is currently serving as senior pastor of Chamblee First UMC.
My passion lies in creating inclusive spaces where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together in worship and fellowship. Whether it's in Asian, multi-ethnic, or next-generation ministries, I believe in the power of unity and collaboration to foster Discipleship, spiritual growth, and transformation.
Outside of ministry, my greatest joy comes from my role as a husband to my wife, Janet, and a father to our three children, Noah, Jonah, and Abigail. We as a family share a passion for food, outdoor adventures, and sports.
Rev. Keya J. Hillman
Regional Developer, South West District
A native of Philadelphia, Pastor Keya, as she is affectionately called, obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
After a 10-year career in biotechnology, where she worked to find cures for hemophilia, cancer, and HIV, Keya transitioned to working to end homelessness in the non-profit and government sectors. Following a call to ministry, she attended Gammon Theological Seminary, where she is a 2016 Summa Cum Laude graduate, earning an M. Div. with a concentration in New Testament. In June 2018, Pastor Keya was commissioned and appointed pastor-in-charge of Leland Qwest UMC in Mableton, GA. In September 2020, she was appointed to St. Paul UMC, Summit Street in Gainesville. In 2021, Keya was ordained an Elder in Full Connection.
Her work beyond church ministry includes serving as the Nominations Chair of the North Georgia Black Methodists for Church Renewal, secretary of the Interdenominational Black Ministers Association of Gainesville/Hall County, and on the Board of the Newtown Florist Club. She also serves as a member of the United Way of Hall County One Hall United Against Poverty Financial Stability Committee, the North Georgia Conference Council on Finance and Administration, the North Georgia Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and a Supervising Pastor for the Teaching Parish Program at the Candler School of Theology. She has also consulted for start-up and mature non-profits, advising them on organization launch, grant management, program management, and fundraising matters.
Keya is most proud to be the mother of two wonderful young adults.
