Drumroll please: North Georgia Conference Youth Ministry proudly announces the dates of youth retreats for the 2023-2024 school year. No matter the size of the congregation or youth group, whether your youth group attends a retreat every year or hasn't yet signed up for a Conference event, there is a place for your youth!

Upcoming retreats include:

Fall Confirmation Retreat
September 29-October 1, 2023
Ages/Grades: Open to Confirmation Students (Primarily 6th-8th Graders)

Designed for middle schoolers and adult chaperones but appropriate for anyone participating in a local church's confirmation process.  In this fall confirmation weekend, youth will spend a weekend at Glisson and focus on telling their own faith stories.  They will also learn about the unique blessings of being United Methodist and what it means to be a part of a connectional church.

Rooted: Fall 2023 Retreat
November 10-12, 2023
Ages/Grades: 6th-12th Graders

Designed for youth groups (6th-12th graders) and adult chaperones, the Rooted Retreat is the North Georgia Conference fall youth group gathering (spring retreats are called Spiritual Life retreats or SLR). In the fall, we provide powerful worship experiences and inspiring speakers. Also in the fall, there is dedicated youth group time for youth leaders and volunteers to develop and strengthen relationships with their groups. The Rooted Retreat is focused on group formation and community involvement and outreach (while the spring youth retreats look inward, the fall retreat encourages youth to live out their faith in the world). Let us take care of the details so that youth leaders can be fully present with their students and volunteers.

Rest & Vision Retreat
January 13-15, 2024
Age: High school and college students

High school and college students are invited to a winter leadership weekend at Camp Sumatanga in Alabama. Designed as a leadership training opportunity for high school youth and college students, Rest and Vision weekend will bring young leaders in the church together for dynamic speakers and inspirational worship and allow them to participate in small group sessions to explore and practice leadership skills. There will be quiet time for devotion and reflection and not-so-quiet time to play and dance with new friends, and learn icebreakers and games to take back to their local churches. Afternoon free time will hold opportunities for recreation, crafts, hiking, and spending time with friends. Registration for this retreat is available for church groups OR for individuals coming without a group - adult chaperones will be in cabins.

Spring Confirmation Retreat
March 1-3, 2024
Ages/Grades: Open to Confirmation Students (Primarily 6th-8th Graders)

At spring confirmation weekend, youth will focus on the vow they will soon make when joining the church - supporting the church with their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service, and their witness. They will also learn about the unique blessings of being United Methodist and what it means to be a part of a connectional church. Registration will open September 15, 2023.

Spiritual Life Retreats
March 8-10 & March 15-17
Ages/Grades: 6th-12th Graders

Spiritual Life Retreats happen every spring in North Georgia at Glisson. Each year these retreats fill Camp Glisson with youth and adult leaders from all over the North Georgia Conference. The weekends are similar in content, although the bands and speakers change each session. Groups can register for either weekend and be assured of a quality retreat designed with the purpose of enriching the opportunities of spiritual growth for its participants and making your church ministry thrive. The retreats are designed and led by other youth and adult leaders in the conference, offering another level of leadership development to youth in the conference. SLR Registration will open on September 15.

Beach Retreat
May 31-June 3, 2024
Ages/Grades: Youth Groups

Bring your whole youth group to Laguna Beach and experience dynamic worship, big group games, and small group breakout sessions.  We'll stay right on the beach in the same facility we were in for the 2023 Beach Retreat that includes 2 pools, basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, an on-site dining hall, and convenient beach access. There will be plenty of afternoon free time to enjoy the beach with your youth group. Registration is open now - reserve your spots early!
