BEAT on Track to Invest More than $1.2 Million in Mission and Ministry in 2023

6/12/2023

At Annual Conference 2023, North Georgia United Methodists celebrated the impact of two years of Barnes Fund investments. Hear from some of the recipients in this video.

In 2023, the Barnes Evaluation and Administrative Team (or BEAT for short) is on track to invest $1,272,370 in mission and ministry across our Annual Conference. Already this year BEAT has funded 17 grants. These grants include a broad spectrum of ministry, including funds for community centers, digital and technical enhancements for churches, church mergers, facility upgrades, racial reconciliation ministries, and investments in young adult ministries, just to name a few.

For churches interested in applying for a BEAT grant, it's important to know:

  • BEAT operates with three funding windows per year: applications must arrive before February 1, May 1, and September 1.
  • Churches and districts must have their application vetted by their District Strategic Growth Teams before it arrives to BEAT. (Approved Conference Boards and Agencies of the Conference must have their applications vetted by the Connectional Ministries Team before it is properly before BEAT.)
  • Find the application and a host of information at www.ngumc.org/BEAT.
All North Georgia United Methodists are encouraged to visit the BEAT Dashboard where you can track in real-time the grant investments being made across the Conference. That Dashboard is updated after every funding window. Keep checking regularly to see what new investments are being made in your ministries.

Remember, this grant process is for the whole of the Annual Conference. If you have an innovative dream, speak with your District Superintendent and share it. With some collaboration, and working with your District Strategic Growth Team, a ministry grant might just be coming your way.
