A new church is launching in Elberton!

Grace United Methodist Church was officially constituted in the South East District of the North Georgia Conference last month and held its inaugural worship service on Wednesday, August 9. The Rev. Jim McCollough will serve as pastor of the new church start.

During an organizational service at the Elberton Arts Center, approximately 60 prospective members of the new church welcomed District Superintendent Rev. Greg Porterfield, District Mission Specialist Rev. Dana Everhart, and District Lay Leader Jennifer Byrd to establish the new congregation.

Organized for "the glory of God, the proclamation of the gospel, and the service of humanity," Grace UMC will hold regular worship services on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Through the generous hospitality of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, the temporary home of Grace UMC will be at 109 Brookside Drive in Elberton.

“'Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors,’ the tagline for The United Methodist Church since 2001, reflects our grace-based theology that – no matter who or where you are or where you’ve been – everyone is always welcome through the open doors of Grace United Methodist Church,” said Rev. McCollough.
