Bishop Announces Projected 2023-2024 Appointments

4/16/2023

'May we continue to be open to the Spirit’s leading as we seek to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!'
—Bishop Dease

Bishop Robin Dease has announced projected full-time appointment changes as of April 16, 2023. The appointments will be set at the North Georgia Annual Conference and will be effective July 1 unless otherwise noted. Part-time appointments, along with a few full-time appointments, are still in process and are scheduled to be announced in May.

"It has been an honor to be a part of the appointment process as your bishop this year," said Bishop Dease. "Itinerancy as a clergyperson is a sacred vow, an act of faith, a covenant, a symbol of collegiality, and an expression of our shared ministry. For laity, itinerancy is a cornerstone of our clergy/lay partnership, an exercise in hospitality, a gift of accountability, and a way of recognizing that seasons of ministry call for different gifts and graces in leadership.

As we all share in the vocational calling, may we continue to be open to the Spirit’s leading as we seek to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!”

In The United Methodist Church, appointments are for one-year periods. The goal of the Bishop and the appointive cabinet each year is to match the gifts and graces of each pastor with the ministry needs of a particular congregation and community in a particular season.
