Racial Justice and Healing Academy

REMEMBERING HOW TO LOVE:

A FOUNDATION FOR RACIAL HEALING

If you are tired of white supremacy, systemic racism, and you want to be a part of the healing we all need, the Racial Justice and Healing Academy is the right next step for you. If you have ever said, “Someone ought to do something about racism” and you are ready to be one of those “someone’s”, the Racial Justice and Healing Academy is the right next step for you.

The Racial Justice and Healing Academy is designed for those who want to learn how to pursue racial justice and healing in their local church and community. It equips participants with the tools, support, and encouragement to lead, start, continue, or join local racial justice and healing efforts. The RJHA is five unique modules that will inspire, challenge, inform, equip, and encourage the participants to take steps towards racial healing in the spaces where they have influence.

The Racial Justice and Healing Academy modules are open to lay and clergy from the North Georgia Conference (NGUMC) as well as to those who are not members of the NGUMC as a la cart events. This year's fall Academy will be hosted by St John UMC in Augusta. Two of the meetings will take place online.

The cost for the full academy that includes all 5 modules is $300 for NGUMC clergy and laity (an savings of $200 over a la cart pricing). There are a limited number of scholarships available. Those needing assistance should email brian.tillman@ngumc.net.

A total of 4 CEU credits are available for clergy, depending on level of participation. This will also meet the requirement for intercultural training for those serving on conference staff and for those serving on Conference boards, commissions, committees, councils, and teams.
